Masterson’s Tavern , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , advertises itself as a stylish, alternative venue , but my latest trip at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may present a friendly façade, what I encountered behind its walls was appalling and beyond comprehension .
The Condition of the Premises : Squalid and Disregarded
From the moment I walked in , it was clear that sanitation was not a priority at this establishment . The floorboards were filthy, and a overpowering stench of stale beer and neglected washrooms suffused the entire venue . With a smell of a mixture of excrement , decay and a sickly smell. The counter , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and trash that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The bathroom was in even a truly awful state— spilling over , with a snapped lever and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was feces.
